When it comes to Pokémon GO, we’ve finally moved on to the second evolution also known as Generation 2. For fans of Pokémon, this was a much awaited version that entailed a new expansion and also promised to introduce a total of 85 new and different types of Pokémon that could be captured.

1.     The Most Powerful Pokémon You Can Catch

Gen 2 comes with its own set of powerful Pokémon and you can either opt to catch them as you go or look for Pokémon specifically. If you’re a power player, you might want to ensure you get your hands on the following:

  • Tyrantiar – Built like a Godzilla, the Tyrantiar has a CP that comes up to 3700
  • Dragonite – A dragon like Pokémon, the Dragonite has a CP that comes up to 3581
  • Donphan – An armored elephant, the Donphan has a CP that comes up to 3022
  • Ursaring – A grizzly bear type creature, the Ursaring has a CP that comes up to 2760

2.     What Starters Can You Expect

The starters for Gen 2 are not as powerful as Gen 1 but they are still must-haves for fans and players. Comparatively, the fire and water Pokémon are good but the Grass Pokémon leaves much to be desired.

Water

  • Totodile
  • Croconaw
  • Feraligatr

Earth

  • Cyndaquil
  • Quilava
  • Typhlosion

Grass

  • Chikorita
  • Bayleef
  • Meganium

3.     Gen 1 Pokémon You Should Continue to Catch

Don’t get too disillusioned by the Gen 2 Pokémon’s. While there are a few with extremely high strengths and CPs’, you should still focus on getting the following Gen 1 Pokémon to add to your team.

  • Eevee
  • Gyarados
  • Magikarp
  • Snorlax
  • Rhynhorn
  • Rhydon
  • Vaporeon

Each Pokémon belongs to Gen 1 has extremely high levels of CP, making them a great addition, particularly in your fighting team.

4.     When to Evolve

Much like with Gen 1, always ensure that you have caught the first evolution character with the highest appraisal and CP possible. This allows you to utilize your candies more efficiently and also ensures that you get Pokémon that has a higher CP and statistics. Also be sure to hit the gym in order to train your Pokémon quickly and get them ready for evolution. Moreover, there are plenty of Gen 1 characters that do not require double evolutions. For this reason, it is beneficial for you to have it.

5.     Improving Candy Caches

Candy is needed in order to upgrade the Pokémon and each Pokémon has a specific kind of candy it requires. If you’re tired of simply catching and trading Pokémon in for candy, try using a berry that can help improve the chances of you getting candy every time you catch one. You also get 50 exp boosts that greatly increase your chances of successfully catching and raising a Pokémon in the Gen 2 universe with ease.
